Default HHK Guards

They're all dropping "Short Sword" which vendors for 2 plat at best. On live they did/are dropping "Fine Steel Short Sword".

Too lazy to dig up any info, will later. Also thought maybe the devs even remember them dropping FS swords? HHK was pretty popular on live for cash farmers.

I can confirm that they are not dropping the expected fine steel short swords.

It's a pity, too, as it would give an alternative to farming hill giants for cash and also give people leveling up some much, much needed cash.

Edit: Here is some reported information on Allakhazam of guards dropping fine steel weapons.

Cosmetic changes such as Brutillus' ogre faces go in but you can't even switch one item to another in the database? /boggle

That's not evidence at all that they dropped fine steel weapons before Kunark release. The comment that was made, was from 2003, well AFTER kunark release.

Now why would they make such a small change to a zone if it weren't there to begin with? I used to level off guards in vanilla and recall selling their swords for quite a bit of money.

Here is another post confirming that guards drop fine steel. It's 2002, almost 2003, but I can't find anything older about the guard loot table.

Score: Decent
you'd think they'd give the Captain fine steel or better but his lowbie guards are better equipped.
Hell, just compare the loot table of picklaw raiders which are equivalent in level to guards; they drop fine steel, too.

While you're at it, fix the guard faction hits; they should give negative factions to guards, merchants and citizens; killing guards only affect their respective faction.

Pending update:

-Highkeep guards will drop fine steel short swords 100% of the time. Captain Bosec will drop a rusty long sword.

-Highkeep guard faction hits corrected. You will now receive negative hits with Highpass Guards, Merchants of Highpass, and Highhold Citizens

-Highpass guard/citizen faction hits corrected. You will now receive negative hits with Highpass guards, MerchantsofHighpass, Carson McCabe, CorruptQeynosGuards, and FreeportMilitia.

-Highpass citizens will protect you the same way guards do.
