Default Thinking of doing this

Hey all,

I am an Everquest player of old. Seeing this project is making me Nostalgic. I was an EQ beta player and when it went live I bought a computer at 14 just so I could play it. I remember the old days of camping for hours for 1 item and grinding Derv camps for Derv rings for gold to get backpacks. I have played many MMOs since EQ, but nothing ever comes close to it. When I heard about this from my brother, who was also an avid EQ player, I knew I had to try it.

I am posting because I wanted hear everyone's opinions on this project and also I want to know how far along the servers are. I sorely miss the days of simple EQ without even Kunark. When going into Befallen to get the Bone Bladed Clay-more or Unrest for the Dwarven Work Boots was a feat unto itself.

So, as most of you may be laughing or ready to troll me, I Just want to know a few things:

First: How far along are the servers at this point?

Second: If they are farther along, is there plans to start more servers that start at the very beginning?

Third: How does everyone relate what Project 99 has done thus far compared to the original EQ?

Fourth: What do you all think of it?

I appreciate the input from everyone!

The server is about to release Velious (and has been around since 2009?)

More servers? Don't know.

In my opinion, the closest to Kunark-era EQ available.

Lots of fun! I waste hours here.

before dumping tons of time into it, be aware that the server is very full and will be more so once velious is released.

be very clear about what nostalgia you want to relive, because a lot of it can be hard to relive (i am finding). The raiding rules are pretty intense, zones are heavily camped, and finding space in groups can be really difficult.

I joined up wanting to relive dungeon diving and hoping to get the raid experience i missed out on. I am slowly learning that everything is so overcamped that I can't really get in the dungeon groups I wanted to have, and raiding seems completely poopsocked out of the question.

there are no plans for new servers AFAIK.

People are super nice here, and I am so thankful to be able to play classic era EQ... I just often find it hard to suggest to people to pile on to the blue wave, as it already seems overflowing. Red is an option, but my experiences there have been much worse.

Wasn't EQ overcamped anyway? Unless you were the power leveling players, I guess. I fondly recall having to fight for spawns in LGuk, and struggle to find lizzies in CazicThule.

I'm personally loving the experience. Is it the same as when I played? No, but I didn't expect that either. You can't recreate the new EQ feeling unless the server is brand new, and even then, the experience that people have changes things. Enjoy it for what it is. If you loved EQ back in the day, you'll love it now, I can almost guarantee it.

It is definitely worth your time to check out this server.

Kunark is out right now and Velious is in "Final Beta testing".

Not sure if another server will happen that starts over. It is a possibility but for now and I'm sure for a while they are really focused on Velious.

I really like this server and have a lot of fun on it. I've met a lot of really nice people.

I played live until SoD and coming to this server was great. I had totally forgotten what the game was like back in this era. Obviously it is not a perfect copy and paste of what you remember, but that is impossible.

This is the best you can get and I advise you to give it a try.

it was cloned because I wasn't signed up yet and my posts took 18 hours to come up, so I reposted in the other section.
