Had to quote this because it's the most absurd fantasy I've read this week. Covid is not nor ever was an existential threat to the species or our nation. If there was a threat it was in the mass-panic and hysteria generated by government propaganda and spread by their sychophant lapdogs.
A pandemic that cause a lose of 16 Trillion in the economy

Ruined supply and demand we are still suffering from

6.58 million dead from Covid worldwide

Others have long lasting affects for some who survive it

That wasnÂ’t a threat?

Covid easily jumps many mammal species.

You know that there was a pandemic that affected nearly all mammals for 15 million years.

Hell there was pandemic that made the primates in a small branch of our lineage just 40 million years ago lose the one protein all other mammals had. A protein used in mammals bodies to recognize most foreign invaders. This virus was so devastating that only a handful of those few primates that had the gene to deactivate alpha-gal survived.

So yes a pandemic should be taken seriously. And yes Covid could mutate to something more dangerous with the right viral recombination - when two viruses share DNA to possibly make a worse virus. This has already happened with Covid once hence the name SARS-COV2. Two different viruses swapping DNA to make a much more deadly virus.

Nah it was Trump administration mismanagement.

Hell the Obama administration briefed the Trump administration that a pandemic could happen being a nation wide event. It was just one of five and the Trump administration label Covid a democrat hoax that would go away in a week.

How can you Trumptards be this wrong all the time? Your kinfolk and military right wing posturing has brainwashed the hell out of you all.

dems were the ones threatening fines and jail time and shit for people wanting to just go to work to put food on the table. All the dems went full authoritarian for no reason and fucked the economy as a result. Its not the ebola virus like you think it is.

You didn't say "threat." If you had, I would not have posted. You said some silliness about "saving the world." That's absurd! Even if you believe the likely-inflated official numbers, your own death count does not even approach one in a thousand globally (and, that, mostly feeble old people who were already on death's doorstep). That is not an existential threat to the species. The freaking Black Death killed half of europe and it was not an existential threat to the species or to the world. Heck even the affected nation-states mostly survived.

In so many words I'm saying, don't be a Chicken-Little. Keep things in perspective. Avoid the temptation to blow things out of all proportion. That type of scaremongering was what drove the over-reactions which led to the economic effects you described. It did not have to be that way and could have--should have--been handled better. Covid was bad, but was at no point a threat to our world, species, or nation.

Don't bother talking about what-ifs or mights. That's blatant fearmongering. We've been living with mights and what-ifs should some virus decide to mutate the right way since the species has existed. If it happens, it happens, but until then it's not real and not something to lose sleep or trash your way of life over.

No because Ebola was tactically already handled by the Obama administration if you forgot. It was plastered on wall to all coverage that Ebola was coming to the US. But no, the right management prevented a HUGE African pandemic becoming a problem in the US. Alone with H1N1, another nastier than Covid virus again was managed correctly by the Obama administration.

Trump’s administration’s mismanagement and messed up the economy, locked you in doors and caused all of these problems. Sweden didn’t not lock down and that just led to more deaths. After they learned this they locked down their population.
Trump administration had plenty of time to react.

But as Jared (Trump’s son in law) who headed the response said stupidly who cares it is only affecting blue states.

So yes you very much have Trump, his administration and the voters who voted for Trump to blame.

I didn’t speak of what ifs.

- there was a pandemic that lasted 15 million years that affected most mammals.

- there was a pandemic that left a handful of our closest primate relatives to be the only survivors.

- and viral recombination has happened with Covid and could happen again making a much more deadlier virus.
