there is something to that. one of the things that the "colonize the stars" crowds never address is the fact that all of space is packed full of dna destroying particles and energetic rays.

we're "shielded" from most of this by the earth's magnetosphere. before they go, BUT THE ISS, the ISS is inside the magnetosphere, and still takes huge doses of radiation.

So the human species will have to undergo a "radiation evolution"

We pave the world in nukes, and whatever survives will have a natural radiation resistance. and probably gray skin (no melanin from the sun), with giant eyes (because everything is gonna be really dark for a few hundred years)
