Miscellaneous: Feerrott Faction Fix-Up

A change to lizard man factions in The Feerrott occured in the July 19, 2000 patch.

Cazic-Thule and the Feerrott:

There has been a significant change to the factions in the Feerrott and Cazic-Thule. Take care not to get killed by NPCs that previously left you alone. The significant upside to this change is that the "Cazic Gate/Portal" can be made much safer in nature for those who work on their faction.

Before the patch
This Feb 2000 Caster's Realm capture shows the lizards in Feerrott were on the LizardMan faction prior to the patch. The lizards in Cazic-Thule appear to have given -AllizeTaeew, +AllizeVolew.

Everlore bestiary entries for a hatchling, a lizardman broodling, a lizardman mystic, a lizardman scout, and a lizard man warrior in The Feerrott indicate negative faction hits with LizardMan. While capture dates of these pages are after the July 2000 patch, the initial comments on each are dated well before it.

Confirmation of -AllizeTaeew, +AllizeVolew faction hits occuring inside Cazic-Thule prior to the patch:

Have a new NPC for Cazic-Thule. Named lizzie "Radiant". Conned blue to level 29 warrior. Hit me (in 80% crafted) for 20-50 points. Took 400 hp of damage from me (but i was in a group so I suspect around 600 hp or more). Faction hits -1 AllizeTaeew +1 AllizeVolew (standard lizzie hits). No interesting drop. Had a fine steel weapon. Picture available if you want it.

Prior to the patch, Roror (in The Feerrott) was on Beta Neutral faction (evidence below).

After the patch
Feerrott lizards start giving +AllizeTaeew, -AllizeVolew. This would allow players to potentially become non-KoS in CT, allowing for the safe travel mentioned in the patch notes.

The tarweevol lizards are enemies of the taeew lizards of cazic thule. Are the ones in rathe mountains tarweevol lizardmen. I would like to know for faction adjustments.

The lizards in Rathe Mountains remained on the LizardMan faction despite the change in Feerrott.

Roror's Faction
Ray Rocker's comment above suggests that Roror moved to the Allize Volew faction with the rest of the lizards in Feerrott, but I believe it was the opposite. He joined Allize Taeew to match the lizards inside Cazic-Thule.

{WARNING: It seems that our happy go-lucky Roror has changed recently. From all reports his faction was changed from Beta Neutral to the faction of the leezards in CT. There supposedly is a way to gain faction with the leezards, but I haven't heard anything about how this is accomplished yet. Roror is pretty nasty, I watched him hand a 52 Ranger his... arse. For those who haven't hunted in Cazic Thule, this was probably minor, but it was pretty major to the rest of us.

Roror is a lizard in Feerott with an attitude and a very bad pet. He was on, I believe, the same faction that the Lizards in Cazie Thule were on. KOS to evil races, and probably most everyone else, that is.

We witnessed this first hand last night as, while killing the spectre in Feerott, 2 party members died and I crawled to the zone.

Roror will be, confirmed by a GM, going onto the Beta Neutral faction that he belongs on with this patch.

Just wanted to let everyone know! =)

Roror is on the same faction as CT lizards wich are different from most lizards in feerrott. this evil guy takes down a lvl 49 druid in moments. To raise CT liz faction (Allize Taeew) kill the smaller lizards in Feerrott (Allize Volew) i did a lot of CT killing before they moved Roror off his beta neutral standing and boy does he make spec kiting THAT much harder

August 1, 2001. Xev server. When a wood elf, all lizard men scowl at me. When in wolf form, WeLoveZilla are indifferent and WeEateZilla still scowl.

Roror was indifferent to me whether I was in wolf form or not. I asked him to curse the hay (although I didn't have any on me), and he said to give him the hay and 66 gold.

So far as I can see, this quest is working as intended and Roror is not affected by either Zilla faction.

Hi All,

As of few patches ago, Roror faction was changed from beta Neutral to KOS
(for every race /class I assume, but I could be wrong)

He is KOS as well to druid in wolfform.

Question: Does anyone have any info how to build up faction with Roror ?

Another thing to note is that players had been able to get +AllizeVolew from hunting in CT since the beginning, and there doesn't appear to have been a way to lower AllizeVolew prior to the patch. Had Roror been moved to AllizeVolew, any hunting in CT would have only increased his standing to the player. Even if one hadn't hunted there at all, it looks like wolf form should have been enough to make a druid non-KoS.

Roror's faction intentionally changed

Roror's change of faction was intentional. He used to be on the beta-neutral faction, a faction that no killable NPC is supposed to be on. Beta-neutral NPCs are to remain available to players regardless of race, class, deity, or action. Killing beta-neutral NPCs causes you to lose faction with NPCs such as the Priest of Discord.

The quests with Roror are supposed to be completable still, though they may require that you work on your faction a bit before that becomes a possibility.

Roror returns to Beta Neutral with the Sept 20, 2000 Patch
Apparently, there was enough negative feedback from players attempting to do the Shakey's Stuffing quest that the change was reverted.

Current state on P99 Green
Given that the timeline is fully progressed, we'd expect to find Feerrott in it's post-patch state.

I tested initial lizard faction in Feerrott with a newly-made Level 1 Agnostic Ogre Warrior. I conned a camp of 3 "a lizardman mystic"s near (360, 500), just a bit south of the entrance to Oggok: 2 conned scowling, 1 conned indifferent.

I crossed the bridge, heading toward Rathe Mountains, and encountered a few roaming lizards:
- a red-con "a lizardman mystic" = Indifferent
- a yellow-con "a lizardman mystic" = Scowling
- "a lizardman watcher" = Scowling

I then checked Rathe Mountains lizards since they should all be on LizardMan there, and indeed the ones I encountered appeared to be; I conned several "a lizard man mystic", "a lizard man warrior", and "a lizard man scout" which all regarded me indifferently.

So it seems on P99 there is some mix of factioned lizards in The Feerrott, at least among the mystics.

Brut's post in this thread suggests that on EQLive hatchlings remained on the LizardMan faction after the patch. This appears to be correct:

Some druid was looking for him one time and I asked him why and he said he needed him to bless his hay. I didn't ask more but I think it might be the scarecrow sack of hay. Anyway, is he the lizard man? When I kill broodlings sometimes I get the up and down with aloe vera (sp? LOL.)but on the other side of the swamp I get bad faction with the lizardman, not men. Same with every hatchling I have seen. SO if you talk to him try not to kill lizards, I heard he is one tough shammy.

On P99:
- "a lizard man broodling" is only giving -AllizeVolew, not +AllizeTaeew. Based on the "up and down with aloe vera" comment above, they should be giving +AllizeTaeew as well.
- "a hatchling" is on AllizeVolew and gives -AllizeVolew, +AllizeTaeew. From the same comment above, these should be on LizardMan even after the Jul 2000 patch.

Timeline

- CT lizards = -AllizeTaeew, +AllizeVolew
