Did all the teal subforums and Green guild discussion just get nuked? What's going on? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

A Green guilds forum has never existed.

My personal theory is that the staff decided it wasn't worth the trouble, since https://wiki.project1999.com/Green_Guilds already lets people know what guilds exist (without all the guild thread flame wars, guilds constantly posting in their own threads to push them to the top, etc.) ... but they've never given an official reason why.

I would be really surprised if over 10k individual people are logging into P99 each month. Even looking at the Discord numbers doesn't seem to indicate that
Not sure if Discord is a good proxy for server population. Many casuals in game have never heard of discord.

It's been a minute since I was doing stats in any kind of meaningful way. But I bet you server population is a Pareto 80/20 situation. The players with many hours played most likely only account for about 20% of total server population. The other 80% of server population may be more casual with not many hours in game, but regularly popping in a few hours a week.

Both player types would both count as one player while only that first one shows up in Discord stats. As in casuals are the hidden players that keep materializing out of nowhere.

They just don't play the game like the hardcore 20% does.

Understood. I get this perspective. If all we have to go on is the devs posting from the past right at server release then I'd be right there with you.

The thing that changed what the devs were planning though was the need for Teal. It may have nearly doubled the work load for server release than they had originally anticipated. On the bright side it gave them real world practice in merging servers. They are ready technically for Green to merge into Blue if they still plan to do that.

With the added popularity, the temporary deployment server of Teal, and eventual remerge of Green and Teal the most dramatic outcome of this added unanticipated stress load was dev radio silence. As in they haven't updated us since then.

If you think that their original messaging is still their plan, then I could see why you might think there would be another server deployed by p99 devs this year. I think Green's continued popularity has pushed back their original plans.

Only time will tell.
Not really sure how that's a response to what I said, but ok I'll respond to it anyway.

I don't think a server's popularity changes or delays their plans. They have always said, since inception of this project, that they want to have rolling server releases.

The fact of the matter here is that there are lots of changes identified during Green that need to be made among the general work load to get the merge done, get the new server started up, etc. Realistically, it's probably just that the devs are unpaid volunteers and currently don't feel like getting around to it. That's usually been the explanation for a lot of things, such as the final patch or two on Blue that took a long time to show up, the launch of Green in general, and other fixes being implemented (or delays in the patch timeline on Green). Not that I blame them in the slightest...it's their lives and free time they should do whatever they want with it, including ignore P99 forever if they so choose.

But thinking there's some other reason going on here is pretty crazy lol

It was a response to Lune. Check my next post with your last one quoted for my response about server population.

In response to this post you just made. The devs aren't saying much any more so you may be relying on dated information.

GL to ya

This is kind of not the right way to look at it. Someone logging in a couple times a month doesn't really equate to a "healthy" player base of 5 figures. Really what you should be doing is looking at how many people log in at least a couple times a week for a minimum of X hours each time. That's a much better indicator of the population because you should be defining it based on people who are actually somewhat active.

So if you said how many people log in at least 3 times a week for a minimum of 2 hours each time, for instance, I bet you're not hitting 10,000 people.

Look up what that means cd. As in you aren't at the level.

If you want intellectualism look up Pareto distribution or 80/20 principle like I discussed earlier.

Ciao. 3rd time ending discussion.
