Killed like 30 of them 3 months ago. They have some... peculiar behaviors but nothing crazy. I can't vouch for the exp at 50 but I'd say they'd be worth trying.
The live ones had peculiar behavior too: when the main goo dies, it spawns several "mini goos" on the corpse of the main goo. The mini-goos were a lot weaker (IIRC light blue or green), and they despawned after awhile.

Here the spawned goos weren't classic because they were as tough as the main goo, and didn't despawn ... but again I believe this was fixed, as the ticket was closed awhile ago.

While this is correct, the tar goos in the caves next to the geonids are a bit lower level (40-44), and they also drop gems, just less frequently.

They used to be bugged and behaved strangely, but I think I saw that the dev team fixed them awhile back (I just haven't had a character of the right level to bring back there since).
Goos are indeed good XP while still providing decent loot. They spawn two smaller goos on death that are easy to kill, so you get 2x chances at loot. Soloed these from 55 to 57 or so on my SK a few years ago.

I updated their entry december 1st 2024:

"Explodes into two smaller, lower level goos upon death. The smaller goos have around 3k HP and have the same max hit but are significantly lower level. If you solo with a pet, when the smaller goos pop they will ignore the pet and go straight for the caster even if you're out of aggro range and the pet is standing over them. Be ready to CC. I've seen baby goos hang out in odd spots so the reset mechanism wasn't very clear once the big goo split."

Zumaik's quads for like 224 and it took him a while to chip at the smaller goos. They hit hard too but since they're lower level they miss more. They're no joke though, even in your mid 50s as a caster, with a max hit in the 100s they'll wear you down quickly. I slowed the big goo but didn't need to slow the smaller ones when split.

At first I tried to charm and pit them against each other and I gated some when overwhelmed, came back and they didn't come for me. IIRC they're super aggressive and social though.

Didn't mess in WL much on live so I have no experience with them from back then.

I might go play with the geos soon. If I bind in the area I'll try to see if the goos reset and how long it takes.

WL has a terrible ZEM but the gems maybe worth it?

I duod with a 56 ranger on my 55 shaman at geonids in WL. It took us 10 kills to get 1% exp.

We went to city of mist and were getting nearly twice that

The loot in COM is terrible though and getting to the rampart is annoying. Once there as a duo they could do good, lots of mobs. Almost everyone I've seen doing the ramparts ended up wiping though so you have to be extra careful when breaking and not overextending yourself.

Feel like it depends on the duo re: your risk point.

An Enchanter duo is not going to wipe if the Ench knows what they are doing. Enchanters solo there all the time.

Com isn’t terrible plat either. There are vendor gem drops, although rarer than geos. And all melee too, so root works
