Thumbs up

I remember when I first started EQ it was Aug. 1999. My friend called me over to his house and said to me "check this game out" I played it for about 15 min and i was hooked. I was lets see....15 years old and spent my money i saved up to get it. Also i was on AOL (ubor dialup) LOL. I made my Human Paladin. In Qenyos.

I will have to say, i had some of the best times i think i have ever had while playing EQ. I know it sounds nurdy but im sure there are some people that agree. . .

Man, I can still hear the Earthlink chime when you'd log on. That sound always preceded the Everquest theme music for me.

Hehe... and relogging Earthlink repeatedly until I got a 56k connection instead of 33.6k :P

Started EQ on the first week of its release in 1999. My friend and I were at times even sharing a 56k modem to play. I think we managed a few hours the first couple of weeks since the servers were down all the time.

My oldest brother got his copy for Christmas in 1999 and we started playing on dialup, he played to about level 14 before we all got to make our characters. My first character was a Dark Elf Warrior on Tunare server. His name was Nafed. I was 9 years old when I started playing. Played heaps for the following years, then after the game started going south, my interest waned. About the time EQ2 came out I was already done with the first one. Then my older brother wanted to start things up again probably in 2007, so I bought a copy of platinum and we somehow acquired a third account. I played a Wood Elf Ranger named Lloen up to about level 53 in the months following, then I started playing my druid Cagnazzo again, decked him out with new gear (as I'd stopped playing him around level 23 and he had NOTHING good) and got him up to about level 50 or so. I never capped any characters, but I had a lot of fun playing the ones I did play.

Favorite expansions were Kunark, Velious, LDoN, and Ykesha (Cause frogloks were so cool) Luclin wasn't TOO bad except the always-overkill Paludal Caverns, and the fact that it was the beginning of the end. PoP sucked really bad because it killed the porting economy. And the rest of the expansions just furthered EQs downward spiral into WoWdom.

I'm 20 now, and I'm really enjoying reliving the glory days when I have time between my job. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Thanks to the P99 team.

Kunark... When I was like 7ish.
Amazing! Had a couple twink'd characters due to friends who played, and my step father.
Good stuff~

I still play live also. Have a 90 Monk with 3600 + AA's as my main. Retired now, spend WAY too much time playing lol.

I played in 99, nearly took the game back when it asked me for a credit card... maybe i should have, but i enjoyed every min of it.

even the medding looking at a spell book and specialising my first main char .. a shaman to divination as i sensed animals on my 2 week camp of the glacial bear for the totemic helmit......all the Tw players on the nameless server who QQ at all the bala

Good times..
