Hit 45 last night but haven't yet had a chance to try some bow rotting yet, picked up a Talisan's bow and Argent Protector so should be pew pewing good.

Is Tolan's arms worth getting? It's only 110 damage last I checked but free damage is free damage.

I found it a poor way of straight up soloing even with a tolans. The damage just was not as good as melee - dmg shield. My ranger is 40ish percent into 59 now. In my earlier 50s and late 40s I would have stacks of arrows available and start off fights melee. If I was getting to low I would fall back on archery while letting my hp regen passively. Whenever my hp was good I would be in melee range.

Some time in the later 50s this became unnecessary the majority of the time. I did more damage to them and they less to me. I still start every solo session by summoning 3-5 stacks. It can help in a pinch but really isn’t part of my strategy anymore.

next newbie ranger question related to this:

do the arrows need to be in said quiver to get the haste effect? currently only have a thunderhoof quiver which is only 4 slots, unsure if i have to keep adding stacks to it to get the extra haste.
Nope - arrows do not need to be in the quiver for the haste to work

Is this something you've personally tested?

Remember that when you fire an arrow you always fire first and last from your ammo slot - the arrows simply automatically feed into your ammo slot from bag space (including quiver) once you are down to your last arrow in the ammo slot. You never actually fire from the quiver itself as far as the game is concerned.

Simply having the fleeting quiver in your inventory is all that matters

I've been very confused about archery mechanics ever since I started messing around with a baby ranger. This is very helpful, thanks.
