Default quality of life hot bars

I remember like 5 years ago or so reading a classic thread where they eliminated the ability to have a second hot bar. I am checking to see if this is the case still? I bought Everquest at the kunark expansion and I believe and remember having the ability to have a second third and forth hot bar.

I don't see any mention of it here: https://wiki.project1999.com/Patch_Notes

Whenever they did release it, I would imagine it would have come with a patch note.

SEPTEMBER 14, 2005 Patch Notes (Depths of Darkhollow expansion)
Quote:
UI:
There are now 4 Hotbutton windows that can be visible at the same time. Use the Options window to set keys for showing/hiding the windows, as well as setting keys for the individual Hotbuttons in them. Note to skinners, your old skin should work for the single Hotbutton window contained in it, but you'll need to update to see more than 1.
The p99 patch that removed extra hotbars, pet window and many other non-classic windows had a lot of backlash and Rogean released this statement regarding the update:

Spoiler: Too far out of era to be considered for this project

AFAIK there are multiple hot bars that can be scrolled through but only 1 visible at a time. I use the stock Velious UI, its possible people are using other UIs to circumvent this and have multiple hot bars visible.

I would say there's no need for anyone to have multiple hot bars visible.

I only have keybinds for 6/10 hot buttons and that's the whole advantage. And I would guess few players if any are making use of all 10 keybinds. If you're just going to mouse-click them you have another 12 macros available on a socials page.

I think it also limits pointlessly irritating group message spam. I was grouping with that guy accost at lguk frenzy on PQ and he had a macro for every action he was taking and in purple text of course.

Honestly? I know it's their box etc. But I agree with the backlash. Just because something is classic does not mean it's good. Like the whole losing buffs when zonings. Why the hell would you patch the games shortcomings/glitches into the game? I really am hoping someone comes along and gives an alternative to p99 some day, that keeps the spirit of the game while maintaining some of the QOL enhancements. Like getting rid of the map. I don't need the map, but let's not pretend it wasn't a pointless endeavor, what with eveyrone running multiple displays with the ability to keep the wiki open. Or don't get me started on removing DOT dmg messages or buff timers while everyone runs GINA anyway. They take all these measures to strip the game of any sort of enhancement that didnt fit iwth the era, but allow programs that completely undermine their efforts anyway.

Where do you draw the line between quality of life while also trying to make a true to classic experience? The only real answer is to side with classic. Otherwise you are making something else. Just take a look at the non classic changes that have been made on this server for the quality of life justifications if you want to see the other side of it.

Personally, having 40 hotkeys on top of my 8 spells and pages of actions, combat actions, socials and combat abilities doesn’t improve my qol.

Imo one of the balancing factors of busier classes is the fact they need to make action economy decisions, instead of having everything easily hotkeyed.

I used stone UI till it was force removed.

Like the video window being unimpaired. Easy to read text on my text based game
