"I want to play this" doesn't really work when the class is totally broken and not able to function without gear

Back in 1999 there were easily 10x (20x? 50x?) Warriors vs. P99 ... and the all started untwinked? Every last one! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You both raise valid points - the undergeared warrior in context of a bunch of ntov twinks won't keep aggro against them though (unless someone roots).

I don't think that is an issue though. All melee tank sufficiently well in xp content, even rogues if they haven't neglected their defence/ac stats (which they won't have if in NToV twink gear, right?).

Literally all you need to start leveling a Warrior decently is one of these ultra-cheap weapons and some Crusty armor. This stuff is honestly not even worth the time to sell for most established players, and the vast majority would just give these items for free to a new player who could use them. Buy SCHW, HP rings and fill in armor slots with cheap Cobalt/random Velious pieces along the way and you can easily level a Warrior to 50ish and Planar/Thurg level very cheaply. Absolutely no need to roll a farming class first.

Here's my advice.

1) If you're thinking about farming stuff to make money, don't bother, you ARE the target for the farming community, not the seller.
2) Grab everything, Sell everything.
3) We're at end velious era, so abuse that to get some really good gear really cheap.
4) Selling out to a guild will get you access to lots of twinked assists.
5) Being evil is much faster at leveling than being good.

Yeah and as someone who played an untwinked warrior as a main they're completely pointless in groups until they get geared. No one wants to root every single mob just so you can maintain aggro. At least not in modern day when everyone knows that almost any other melee would be a better choice.

At this point I'd rather group with the patch work Warrior than an over the top twink. I couldn't care less if they can hold agro great or do a lot of damage. It would be refreshing if anything and I'm sure their better attitude and enthusiasm for the game would make up for any shortcoming as far as their gear. I'm just here to have fun.

I still so badly want to do a self-funded (no twink) static iksar trio of monk / necro / shaman. Kickin it Kunark, old school style.

Unfortunately I don't think there are two other people left on p99 that would want to do this.
