Default Oddly-Colored Shortcut Keys In Hotkey Bar

I just did a fresh install of the game. I'm using the Velious UI from this site. In the screenshot below, you can see that the "sit", "camp", or any of the buttons of this kind (including combat abilities) are dark and near-unreadable. This doesn't happen when a social is made. That shortcut can be seen fine. Please help. Thanks. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I dont know about the UI, but you could use the Socials tab and create a macro of them which will let you select any text color you want

Thanks for replying. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I was thinking that, but I'm still wondering if there's a way to get the regular buttons back to their normal color.

Looking at the screenshot this looks like the default UI. If you want to try the Velious UI, you can do /load in game and change to it and see if you like it better.

Heres how you would edit the colors of the buttons. You'll need to open/edit the EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml file located in the UI folder, which for default would be in EverQuest\uifiles\default

Each button has a color code so you'll have to do this for all 10 buttons. Default UI colors are set to 0/0/0 which is black. You can change them to 255/255/255 if you want them to be white.

Heres an example of what you are looking for

Oops. You're right. I had to switch UI's to move a window and forgot to change back. However, it does the same thing with the Velious UI, as you can see here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11u9...q6w-mtATipEXpt

Does what you're suggesting below also apply to the Velious UI?

Yes, you can check what the buttons are set for in any UI folder. You can change one button and see if it works before going through them all. You can make edits, save and then /load the same UI to load the changes and see if progress is being made

This didn't work. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] The color didn't change, and it gave me some kind of string error saying the beginning integer didn't match the end or something.

What did you change it to? Should only be numbers that change and nothing else

I changed it like you said, but I figured out the problem. I'd been away from the game for a few years, and was still copying over the old Velious UI zip, because I thought I still had to. This was clashing with the files that were already there, and causing the buttons to be dark. I reinstalled the game and only used the new P99 UI files, which obviously have the Velious folder there. Thanks for your help. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
