I don't ever remember pet sit or pet back causing a pet to stop its cast. I thought they would cast through and then respond to your commands after they are done casting.
Me too, thats why it seemed a bit odd. But i'm not really used to using pets that much as a shaman.

Mage fire pets and several additions to live later on.

I see that it works im just skeptical that it should. Seeing as how in classic duck shouldn't even immediately interrupt a spell. I would be very surprised to find out you could immediately interrupt a pets cast by spamming sit back then.

Hell, infact, PCs could sit while casting spells, so long as they are standing when the spell finished, it would cast. You'd think pets would follow the same rule for casting. IE sit shouldn't immediately interrupt.

But finding evidence on such an obscure/rare topic isn't really that feasible, nor does its changing impact gameplay much.

It probably worked but only if you had the /pet window available to you which was not in quite yet.

Didn't commands work like hot keys in that they would be delayed by spell casting and other such nonsense? I'm pretty sure pets worked the same. The limiting factor being your ability to do the ability during casting (or in this case while your pet casts).

Anywho, inc rage-inducing Daldaen mega-nerf

*edit* sorry, by clicking the original button the command would be executed, however, using a hot key would prompt the "this skill is not available" or something.

But it's probably impossible to prove... it's such a rare case (chanter charming a Caster or someone actually using a fire pet)
heh yea, back in live this era, most enchanters were like, "charming pets is crazy and not worth it and nobody should ever do it cus its insane and I'm too much of a coward to try it ever"

I mean we were all pretty bad at eq in that era heh.

It does seem suspicious but most of the exploits that make us super 7337 at eq now are also suspicious.

Lets just put it this way, if they knew about it back then they would have stopped it, but since nobody was really doing this type of enchanting for the most part I'd wager if it worked like this in classic, the devs didnt know about it either.

On a side note speaking of classic not classic, you know what classic thing I wish we added to p99 - when that jerk camps out without leaving group and then you have to reform group to remove the permanently bugged always out of zone group member that's no longer online [You must be logged in to view images. It wasn't just enchs afraid of charm either--I remember most groups getting upset if you charmed something while grouped. I remember clerics getting so mad they would refuse to heal me.

Charm soloing was harder back in 2000 though, partly because it was new, but also due to lag. You just couldn't depend on the very touchy timings and reflexes that are possible today. Today I can position myself 12 units of distance from my pet and land a root at acharm break before he closesthe distance. Then I can recharm and dispel root and send him back in all in one quick motion and without tye need ror rune, stun, or getting hit.

This was just impossible back on the old internet with my 3dfx card. Imagine all your abilities being about 500ms more unreliable and these feats of extreme enchanting look a lot less possible.

Necros managed it, but ench has less room for error.

The bolded is what I am more interested in getting removed because classic.

Couple it with having only a single hotbutton bar... man will it be so classic.

My p99 client only has a single hotbutton bar. It's all the non-classic UI mods that allow multiples.
