Personally, I'd probably start a character and never join a guild nor ever identify that the person behind the character is me. I just love EverQuest, and again my juxtaposition on this idea of a wipe stems from wanting to see P99 continue to succeed.

yes and im taking my i dunno $5-6000 and im purchasing some servers & nilbogs assistance to run a P99 V2.0 server.

Rules as follows:

FTE
No ninja looting
No training
Maximum Raid Size: 35
Minimum Raid Size to claim FTE: 20
Guild Petition Rules: 5 a month for guild related matters, anymore and you're flagged as Guild Warring for 30 days.

To be honest, I understand opposition to the thought. So don't be so angry reading these wipe it clean posts. Again, it just bothers me to see the population at 500, with 1 guild running things, and massive amounts of RMT.

Just a shame.

None of the other guilds bother putting up with the bullshit of trying to compete. The risk vs. reward just doesn't exist. Its actually nice right now to have TMO off in their own little world while the rest of us get to enjoy the game.

But I still have goals in this game and a server wipe would be counter-productive to those goals. Also, the server wipe would just replace our current "overlords" with new ones.

Longevity is the best thing for this server. EQMac has been locked in its state for years, and is a stable place that the people who play on it enjoy and they get along with each other. If the server was wiped all the time, you'd just have the hardcore players "beating" it over and over with every wipe. Without resets, the only people who still play enjoy it and have stuck through the years are the ones who play more to enjoy than conquer and the community has developed a mature atmosphere. On the other hand, you have the VZ/TZ PVP community, which has their PVP box wiped every couple months, maybe lasting a year. These guys go from one box to the next beating on each other for rights to claim "I am the best player on VZTZ_server_05". Personally, I'd take EQMac's community over the VZTZ community any day.

Your reasons for wanting a wipe: to remove the billions plat, to give bored players something to do, and to give everyone a clean slate for chances at top dog all cater to the "winners", and not the people who enjoy the journey. The billions of plat doesn't matter for players that enjoy the accomplishment of camping their own gear instead of buying it. The bored players wouldn't be bored if they enjoyed the journey instead of rushing to end-game, or if they enjoyed learning the meta-game for additional classes. And becoming top dog doesn't matter to people who just want to slay dragons, not train/grief/leapfrog/otherwise harass their competition for the same dragon. If you want to convince me of wiping the server and starting fresh, convince me its for my benefit. Until then, I'll take all the time I want to get my gear, kill my dragons, and I'll enjoy every small step along the journey.

i'd like to see it wiped. so much bullshit on this server. all the duped pp and gear. all the buying and selling of accounts and crap.

i'm sitting at 60 with nothing to do. cept wait for velious, and who knows how long that will actually be.

i agree with azeth, some people would cry and quit, but i bet many more would return.

Giving up more raid mobs to newer guilds encourages people to stay. It really is all about the community here, stop being greedy.
