Depends...are you stopping people from rolling Vah Shir/Beastlord until you finish Velious content as well? Or are you letting that slide. Yes, Coruduth was classic to velious. I recall swimming past him all the time while running through Iceclad. The reason for dire charm, however, was to avoid being insta-summoned and eaten if and when charm breaks during the fight. Not sure if it's doable. I suppose it depends entirely on luck and how long the fight between the turtles would take.

Lodizal was soloable at Velious launch if you had a way of dropping aggro. And yeah, Corudeth should be around for the Collar of the Storm quest.

I tend to agree with Daldaen - just because Alla put it in in 2002 doesn't mean it wasn't in the game at Velious, just that it took people a while to figure out a huge obnoxious quest. I mean how many people had ALL of their tradeskills maxed to go do this? See quotes like this about the BCPS:

Think hard~! Unless you enjoy tradeskilling, spending absurd amounts of money for one lousy skill up, then being too broke to buy your spells AND having your combine fail, then tolerate the failure well, and don't mind a few months of completely anti-social behavior, this *might* not be the quest for you. All of the above mentioned things are not things I enjoy, not one bit, yet I did them all--so it *can* be done. But boy, is it unsufferable at times! Get out your +100 persistence gear if you choose to venture on...

And if you look at the stats, they really aren't better than the 10th ring. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if the 'modification' of the quest is when they added the focus effect, which they also did for stuff like the Shining Metallic Robe: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2098 which is clearly classic.
