Short guys have less power at work and school lmao let alone dating. Even dudes prefer taller friends.

It's a clear imbalance, no doubt rooted in evolution in biology, but none the less annoying. A dude can be out of shape and extremely ugly and dumb, but if he's tall none of that matters. Andre the giant smashed all kinds of poon and he was basically an actual retard.

This only really became a phenomenon with the rise of online dating as a norm. Sure, shortness was perceived as a negative quality but that influence was pretty small.

A man's desirability is an emergent property of all his qualities, positive and negative. Some of them are somewhat intangible but extremely powerful, more than capable of outweighing being short, like humor. With online dating, essentially, women are provided with 1,000's of resumes. On any given one, you have no clue what that emergent property is going to look like until you meet, so there's really no evident reason not to weed out the pile based on things like height, income. Being tall is no guarantee you'll have success in online dating but it does get your foot in the door.

Before online dating, when most courtships stemmed from your social network, your foot was already in the door, and you were appraised based on that emergent property I mentioned. I'd say it works similarly with women except what they look like is the extremely dominant variable when all their qualities come together, to a far greater degree than men.

Vertebrate species with two sexes are all designed so that virtually every female that isn't completely broken is supposed to reproduce, but only some of the males.
Yeah I agree with all of this, but I think there's still a biological inequity when it comes to attraction. In the year 1412 I'm sure the tall dudes still got laid more, and the fat ugly chicks still got laid by literally any man.

I agree with Cider that the preference seems to be guys taller than them. And the upper limit, if there is one, for most women seems to be super high

I actually get a bit miffed when I match up on a dating app with a gal significantly shorter than me. I had a stretch where I think I dated 3 girls in a row who were between 5’1 and 5’3

And I never realized it until the first date. I never really look at height stats, and with pics it’s hard to tell. Then they arrive on the first date and I have to hold in my “holy cow you’re short” statement because that’s the last thing a short person wants to hear, something they hear 20 times a day (same goes for a tall person though too, no need to state the obvious we’re not children here)

But I get pissed thinking “look, you being that short means lots of guys should be possible options. You are one of the few girls out there who could match with a shorter guy who’s 5’4. And yet you skip over them to still go for me at 6’0”

That makes me kinda miffed, because I know how it is for short guys. Not a dealbreaker though lol

I always assume tall people who date short people are unconcious pedo's.

Ya it would be weird to have a “very short” preference as a guy at any height really. A child sized lady is still a child-sized lady even if she’s with an average height guy. Although short guys DO have to tend to find girls shorter than them

I have zero preference on girl height. I’d date a girl much taller than me and if she’s hot enough I’ll climb that Amazon woman like a tree

Tall guys "I have standards, but this one that next to me looks like a 3 year old is perfect."

That is just how you think.
Says alot about how you process input received from your surroundings.

Good grief.
