So why not fix it in a way that promotes competition and skill?

The only way to fix this in EQ is to add Instances and see what guild is the most skilled to do with the least amount of people.

At least, thats the solution SOE came up with.

In P99 everyone knows the strats for every encounter, there will never be skill involved again. Sorry.

I wrote literally pages on this when this topic came up less than 2 months ago, but yes, variance existed on live. It didn't exist to this degree, more like 6-12 hours for most mobs, but it did exist. That window has been extended to keep GMs from having to intervene at every encounter. This way guilds don't sit on top of a mobs spawn point, simultaneously engage on a pop and petition about who had first aggro 3x a week anymore.

I understand it, I was just addressing the "no way they'd do something that's not 100% classic" thought. It's an extremely rare exception, but never say never.

Not to say that I think they'd go so far as global announcements, lol.
