And another problem: What happens in, say, four years when we have four years' worth of new graduates with new student loan debts who DON'T have them forgiven because they weren't around for this round in 2022? Do we just forgive loans in perpetuity now? Or is it only this current generation of graduates that benefit from this?

This is why this smacks more of politics and appealing to voters than some genuine attempt to change their lives or the system in general.
Yea it’s just a reward for current voter base, conflict of interest

Blue collar workers get the shaft bc they don’t vote Dem

I wonder how many people are going to get scammed out of money compared to how much money will be given as relief because of this.

This is funny: Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe quote: “Good news for thousands of my former students. I’m grateful on their behalf, Mr. President."

The responses:

“Your Harvard students needed a bailout?"

“Finally a break for the Harvard trained lawyers."

“Won’t anyone think of the children of Harvard Law School?”

“You teach at a college with a $42 billion endowment”

“Finally. It's about time Harvard Law students caught a break in life."

“Harvard students love it when their political party takes your money and gives it to them."

“Tribe teaches at Harvard, which has a $53 billion endowment. Why doesn't Harvard forgive their loans? Why make blue collar taxpayers subsidize the debt of Harvard lawyers?”

“These elitist snobs like @tribelaw are happy that working class families are paying for rich people’s Ivy league indoctrination programs”

Meanwhile China is fully funding students in STEM to attend high level schools all over the world and bring that knowledge back.

It’s like you all want America to lose.

Breaking news: Conservative reactionaries who complain about the bad financial situation in America hate it when America tries to address the bad financial situation haphazardly

You guys hate the libs so much it's rotted your brains

Anyways, hope they do this more and forgive more debts because corporations get breaks like this all the time. From both Democrats and Republicans
