not make the same mistakes 100 years from now because we are a species that is supposed to be evolving and learning, not hiding reality and the truth from each other.

Even if you dont care about corrupt people profiting from misery, there's enough reason to care if it was from a lab or not.

Well if it's made in a lab, why was it made in a lab? What protocols broke down that let it escape? Who is held responsible for it and the deaths and expenses it caused? (and the expenses are MASSIVE. The whole world was fucked by the planetary shutdown) How do we prevent it in the future?

Remember even on a small scale people were blaming each other and getting pissed at each other when they suspected someone had spread Covid to them by just being in their presence.

If they admitted in 2020 that it escaped from a Chinese virus lab the whole world would have been calling for hell to pay, sanctions and boycotts and calls for exhorbitant payments and whatnot, and the world is too dependent on China for them to pay hell. So instead it's someone eating a bat. Nobody can carry the blame for that but the anonymous nobody that ate it. Convenient.

Covid-19 is not from a purely naturally-occurring virus. It started off that way sure, before it got out of the lab somehow.
