yeah edison was nothing more than a self-hyped corporate dick who never innovated shit on his own. Edison ran a company staffed by scientists, engineers and contemporary innovators, then anything they came up with he stamped his name on and submitted the patents in his name.

He took people like nikola tesla, chewed them up and spit them out. he fucked nikola tesla out of $50,000 and then told him he wasn't gonna pay because it was a joke, and that tesla didn't understand american humor, AFTER Tesla met the conditions outlined in Edison's 50k offer.

Edison's memory should be wiped from history. He didn't even invent the light bulb, it existed long before he came along. Edison hired other people to test various materials to come up with a longer lasting filament, because his own self-hyped and inefficient DC current burnt through filaments too fast, and he was too engulfed in his own self-defined legend to admit he was wrong about electrical transmission.
