![]() I'd be down for 2 years of Kunark. That way you can cycle your addicts. First wave of addicts are the hardcores who crush it for the first 4-6 months. Most of those burn out. Rinse and repeat and then 2 years down the line, pretty much everyone is ready to move on!

Fiscally Verant had zero reason to purge accounts. The only way they could make more money from purging is if there were people who said "I won't give Verant my $10/month because I can't have some name (that is being taken by a level one toon)." How many gamers have you heard of who refused to play any game because they couldn't get the handle they wanted? At the same time, how many people did you know who stopped playing, and then came back months or years later (quite possibly with a desire to play a new toon)? That describes almost everyone on this server right? If Verant purged characters they'd be flushing money down the toilet, because anyone who came back and found their toons missing was likely to cancel their subscription.

![]() Obvious answer; Join Auld Lange. the population and stability of the server is its main asset. A reset or new server is dangerous proposition because if half the population left server would be dead and classic over.
You have to deal with "old server" problems, because the alternative is playing alone on a dead server or 20 boxxing with the rest of the eq vets.

Ahhh, thanks for posting that Llandris. That happened pre-Velious, and I didn't start until Velious, so that explains why I never heard of the wipe.

![]() Something that I've really become aware of as I've started playing again, that speaks to I guess OP's point, is that everywhere you are leveling up, there are people with their level 60 cleric / enchanter alts logged nearby, constantly going around buffing people and 96% ressing them.
This makes all the content leveling up infinitely easier, and eliminates any consequence to death. The danger and the risk are a huge part of what made Classic EQ what is was. Further, there are a million people available to port you at any time, anywhere, largely eliminating your need to run anywhere or take boats. This has the effect of vastly shrinking the world and causing people to avoid a lot of the traveling that also made this game what it was. It would be nice if there was a way to start a fresh server while still guaranteeing a similar population level. I also agree with some of what other posters said, that bringing in new players who have never played EQ before would be a huge part of recreating the experience. I wonder if P99 is allowed to advertise, or if they would have an issue with people taking out ads on their behalf?
