Great observation from this commentator and similar to what I've been expressing as the main reason to not create AI:

So will we keep robots from reading any history? And how do you explain the convention of warfare?

Not to mention social conventions are very arbitrary, and vary dramatically depending on group. Even humans have a difficult time sussing this out and robots can glean not only the group but a reasonable response?

This gets to a larger question of the parable we tell ourselves about human nature and even after several millennia we really haven't come to terms with the devils of our nature, which with a sufficiently advanced AI might come to the conclusion the gods have clay feet and move beyond convention.

And what will we do then?

Man if the children that we create are more evolved than we are, were the creators of us even worse than we are? Maybe an eternity in hellfire is believable punishment for the type of person that created people.

Well I guess the robots will just read our history talk to a few of us than use all that data to interpolate their own culture from it!

Isn't it odd people would call autonomous self willed AI a robot though? Robots, by definition are automata programmed by humans to do specific tasks.

Or even self evolved AI isn't artificial as it evolves naturally away from human influence, "AI" so to speak is not really a great concept. As can you literally design something to become self aware, yet claim that the awareness it gains is entirely artificial, because then if it's artificial than it's a 'faux' awareness... (anyway some guy rambled on about this for awhile in some youtube video I watched ripped from NOVA or WEDU or w/e) shits deeeeeeep. (a long time ago) maybe I saw it on PBS when I was a child in the 90's.

I don't agree with any of it. If the government worked it might be a different story. This isn't a democrat vs republican thing this is a clash of special interests. The system is broken and no one in the current government nor that is running for a position can fix it currently because they cant do it all by themselves. We need to fix the problem before we try and fix the people.

I support helping those in need but I also support drug testing for those who are on government assisted programs. I support helping refugees but only after we help our own. We need to help the soldiers who aren't starting these wars but are fighting them because they are ordered to. They didn't enlist to fight in war they enlisted to protect their families, friends, and our country. They just ended up wherever they were told to go and they come back broken in mind or body or both. The children in our country that are starving because for one reason or another there is no food for them. The drug addicts who cannot afford the help they need but can do whatever it takes to get their next fix.

Then I see a politician say whatever they have to so they get elected and once in office they know they will never actually have to follow through. They can point at the other guy and say see he is preventing it while collecting a paycheck that is not only outrageous but very rarely actually earned.

Gun control if I believed for a minute that disarming our populace would reduce gun violence or stop it I would be the first in line to surrender my firearms. They need more control but how do they implement it effectively without leaving the average law abiding citizen open to gun violence from criminals. I have seen friends killed by guns its not a good feeling or thing to see happen.

I go to the store and stand behind someone buying steak, cigarettes, and beer paying with a combination of snap card and cash pulled from a large roll with a grocery store rewards keychain card next to the keys of a $30k+ car(Mercedes not sure any are below $30k+ that but its possible) with new tattoos. While I work a 40hr plus job and was buying oatmeal, chicken, and Broccoli..(this is a true story happened to me in January)

I don't support wiping the slate clean for college students in debt because I have been working to pay my way through school for more than a decade without taking out loans I knew I would never get paid back. I do support restructuring the loans or forcing lower interest rates on them to make it possible for students to pay them back.

All that said where do I fall in the whole democrat vs republican battle for control? In a fight for and by the government 'we the people' always lose.

the new BSG series cylons r like "Human like AI" they get tooo comftorble in human skin, and try to kill us, despise us, learn to love us, then fight amongst themselves, becoming human, and seeding YET another planet to start the cycle all over again (away from the satilites that reborn them and started the whole thing aeons ago) and some are immortals, and manage to not get themselves killed, redesign uplink tech, and then die again when cylon babies make more cylon babies

It's the circle of life.
