as a local and miser i prefer the downtown joints, but i'm the type of guy who goes to dive bars exclusively shopping for free doses of GHB. Golden Nugget, Fremont Street etc is my jam. $1 margaritas (really more like alcoholic slushies out of a machine) available in that neighborhood.

Cosmopolitan is my favorite Strip property in terms of the decor and design and all that. But I never spend a dime on the strip, the $/fun ratio is just not there for me. The one exception being the very rare occurrence of a decent musical act coming to town, Flaming Lips on cosmo rooftop pool with the two coke addled sluts, one trying desperately to get me to fuck the other, was just gr8. I ran into the hot girl from high school at random, with two tourist whores draped over me. Top tier night but the drinks were $12.

If it's your first time in Vegas you have to do at least a tour of the Wynn properties, Venetian and Caesar's and Bellagio and all that. They're still dazzling enough to make playing the tourist game fun once a year or so for a lifetime resident. Skip Circus Circus and that one with the castle facade i can't remember the name of right now, they're nasty as fuck. And no I'm not in the area currently or I'd offer hospitality.

Vegas is great. BDA did a Vegas meetup back in March. We did a group dinner at Fogo and a group dinner at Hofbraus.

For maximum opulence I like SW in the Wynn. Some of the best red meat I've ever had. The big eye tuna tartare was excellent as well.

Maybe you shouldn't waste your finances/income/whatever at casinos? Knowing what you've shared about your life, I'm not sure that taking your money into one of those establishments is your wisest course of action.

Honestly not trolling you here Swish. Save your money while you're in a life transition.

To anyone concerned about my well being, the flight is booked and I've got a set amount of spending ca$h for the trip which I don't plan to go over. I'm a sensible gambler, although an old pal of mine was quite the opposite so I know what you mean hehe.

I didnt do Fremont Street last time, the shittest casino we went into was either Hooters or the Sahara (which was in the process of closing down)....but I want to get down there for a cheap night, just for the experience.

Also didnt get to check out Excalibur and a few others so will have to do those, and never thought about touring the Wynn - went in there and it looked a bit too exclusive for my casual tastes, but maybe I'll give the food a try one evening [You must be logged in to view images. General Swish "don'ts"... no poker tournaments, I'm good but not Vegas good. No roulette because Euro roulette doesnt have the double zero which makes yours look terrible. I like slots just because its easy but going to try and keep away in favor of more blackjack this time - great to play when there's a good crowd at the table.

Can anyone recommend some decent bars to drink in?

Tournament poker is infinitely softer than the cash tables. Lots of fish there looking to minimize their potential losses. Just don't play any hands unless you literally have the nuts, then outplay the final table. Everyone there will most likely bust out playing hands they should never be in from the start. It's pretty easy to cash in those.
