Here's the answer to a couple suggestions/questions:

Why did we stay in Faydwer? That's where people were. We wanted to play with others and although we played with one another semi-regularly, we did play alone, with 3, or just paired up alot. We wanted to stay near to one another, but still allow each other flexibility to group and such.

Crystallized pumice? I just looked it up, I never knew what that was. I don't know how much it costs, but we had an incredibly hard time affording spells, so I doubt we could buy them.

Why u such a bitch? I dunno, I probably could have stuck it out. The point of this post wasn't wah wah wah, feel sorry for me. Its more like "Hey, I got 3 cool guys to join me on this dope server and all 3 of them were driven away by something"

Maybe u just aint made for this? Again, maybe so. I played eq pvp around 2001 (post-velious i think). It was really really fun. Lots of battles, but no one ever (atleast at lower levels) seemed invincible. Strong, but not invincible.

Just level past the jerks? We didn't join the game to grind our way to 60 ASAP. We liked quests, we liked pvp (when its fun), and we liked exploring. We had many, many xp deaths (trying to get my enchanters golden rod at level 19 in upper guk resulted in the entire group being deleveled once. It was the most fun we probably had). We honestly estimated that in a year we'd be like 55 or so.

All that being said, the majority of folks we met were awesome and super generous. I've gotten a message since posting this offering free PL'ing past MM levels and some gear. That's super cool and thank you. I will be declining though. I came here with buddies and they've left.

Final thoughts:
Maybe I lead a group of wienies or whatever, but the way we remember eq was that when you saw someone in the most amazing gear (fungus tunic, epic, jboots (which used to seem pretty epic when you saw them) or whatever else) they were normally helping you out or giving you pointers. On this server its more scary than anything else.

I think a good point was made early in this thread by Mr Popo that I can expand upon.

I'm used to the overgeared everyone from my time on blue - it sucks, but I can slam my fists on the desk and get over it.

My friends look at all the guys running around with (literally) the best gear we could ever possibly get (probably would take years) and they're just kinda like "what the hell is the point of this" kind of like that quote from Lyndon Johnson about civil rights that goes something like "its not fair to take a man that has been held down by the chains of oppression and bring him up to the starting line of a race and say "you are now free to compete with the others" and still think you're being just" (its something like that).
Clearly this isn't as significant civil rights, but I'm just trying to illustrate a point. Its frustrating to new players and bad for the population.

Yah, you might have missed what i was saying, but we expected to be in our twenties for atleast a few weeks or so. We like interacting with others. We probably would never raid, just occupy the mid levels, make friends, and have fun for a very long time. Splitpaw is cool (and a place we wanted to go), but really we were well aware of places we could go by ourselves to XP. We wanted XP, socializing, questing, and not to go hide by ourselves or seek out powerleveling for 40 levels.

My level 6 wizard was invincible with my Mithral Quill pre vel and terrorized all of gfay for weeks. So it's classic.

Jesus Christ, you came here with incredibly unrealistic goals for you and your friends then you blame the community for your own lack of foresight. It's year 4 of kunark and everyone is bored to death of it. Most people have 3+ lvl 60s toons and have killed all end game bosses multiple times over. The population is bored, get over it. If you do happen to come back, I'll see you in MM on my lvl 24 ragebringer alt.

Ive leveled 3 characters 20-40 in MM in the last like 4 months and have been killed like maybe 4 times in that zone, and that was on my first red character who was naked and basically thought my nonviolent /sitting would make the twinks not attack me.

that said, i was pleased to find that my corpse was never looted.

But I am aware Agatha and Rag are on rage mode right now and all over MM killing and looting corpses all day while im just sitting here fucking this guys wife i met at the dog park and posting on my mobile phone, so idk whats going on inside the game.
