I own guns legally (including an AR-15) and I am in no way a gun nut. I think you are confusing gun nuts with incompetent people. And it's a shame that most people think this way, once a person of a certain race/religion/belief/political view/etc does something stupid then that must mean they ALL do it.

I do not show them to family members. They are not loaded in my house and only will be loaded if there is a threat. They are kept in a safe at all times except when I am going to a shooting range, in which case my unloaded gun is in a lock box and locked in my trunk with no ammo around it.

Not all people who own guns are idiots. And myself and my family feel a lot more safe knowing I am properly trained to use a gun if something were to happen in my home. Until there is a way to guarantee that no one will illegally own a gun to use it to perform a crime (which is impossible), I will never ever give up my right to own a firearm.

However I do agree that fully automatic weapons have one purpose and one purpose only: to kill as much as you can as fast as you can. I do agree these should not be legal to own, even though they are highly regulated and only legal in, from what I can remember, 37 states.

Guns are pretty cool, they serve a purpose and are fun to shoot. However when you give a mentally deficient turd access to them, stupid shit happens.

You can be a gun nut and be smart about guns, keep them locked away from you children; respecting the great power that requires a great responsibility to handle. It's when you clearly lack the respect of the firearm such as that fucking lowlife did is that when atrocities such as these take place.

If they guy didn't have guns he would have found something else to fuck himself as well as his family over.
