In my state we have border patrol checks at all major interstate crossings into the state from certain directions (sometimes). And it’s not like you can just turn around if you see the checkpoint ahead, they have you tracked all the way in

Doing something like this randomly at a few additional states, and all of a sudden the vast majority of illegals will no longer want to travel to a different state for any reason

It’s like depending on what tactics are used, their behavior as a group will change in response. Could be in all sorts of ways. This isn’t meant to be a judgement statement one way or the other, just a prediction

you're not wrong in assuming that people are gonna change their behavior to avoid getting caught, but I always say that you can't stop a hurricane by catching raindrops

I live in PA and I theorize that cannabis is still illegal in PA because everything that ships through the north, south, and central USA has to travel through PA. Keeping cannabis illegal in PA prevents legal interstate commerce, and gives our troopers fun things to do during traffic stops!

Oh it was border patrol btw that had their weed dogs alert on the vehicle I was driving because I had some (then illegal) pot inside

So myself and cousins were escorted out and handcuffed while they had the dog stomp through our stuff inside the vehicle

Guess it was too much trouble to open the protein powder tub I had crammed a bunch of that good Cali weed in. And the dog couldn’t pinpoint it because I had buried it at the bottom of a full tub of chocolate powder

So they had to let us go, wanted to leave going…

illegal immigration isn't new, people marching through mexico in 3,000 person caravans is new, over the past ~10 years it's not that people have come here illegally, it's that they have overwhelmed any possibility of stable border control.

this is a massive breach of national security, as we now have little to no idea who is coming, from where, and what they are bringing with them.

this new wave of immigration enforcement has very little to do with the dishwashers and seasonal farm hands, but that's how you have to sell it to the average citizen with their 100 IQ that never reads anything about the world they live in

More recently it's more an asylum problem. They don't get funds of any kind unless they come in at a port of entry and file a claim.

Drugs and other contraband do come in through the wild parts of the border but are dwarfed by smuggling in otherwise legit shipping.

This is actually an insanely small amount of money compared to the economies of Mejico(1.7T) and Chyna(17.79T). Likely would cost more to collect than it would save.

Unclear how much they're really helping the folks back home. There must other avenues.
