What's really the issue at hand, in my opinion, are these massive for-profit 24/7 consumer news outlets that laugh all the way to the bank as they play to people's fears and prejudices on both sides to increase their bottom line at the cost of our common dignity.

They prey upon the anxieties of Americans and pit us against each other in some twisted arms race where the only winners are the goddamn advertisers between segments.

Cut each other a little slack, most of us have one primary grievance in common: a dysfunctional Federal Government too detached from the needs of ordinary citizens.
