but when the ramifications start to flow over into the server forums and public then it involves the server image. something the dev's clearly wish to remain as positive as possible.

Then they should really strive to be fair, transparent, etc.

The answer is definitely NOT to police guild websites/content outside of p99.com because some people can't take a joke.

The fact is they can't. This server suffers from the same symptoms that every other emulated server suffers from in that the staff quickly realizes it's impossible to maintain a healthy server without help, but the help is often drawn straight from the playerbase, hence the accusations of favoritism. Divinity went through much the same shit except it was actually "fair, transparent, etc" and it quickly got shoved down their throats. To require that a GM/Dev/Guide not play the game is crazy (although preferred), but when they're also players then you have to face the consequences of a pissed-off playerbase, whether legitimate or not. Honestly I'm quite surprised how well they've handled it (granted I don't really know everything, and with that said there have been some very very clear and obvious mistakes).

If you want people to continue playing here then that question will never be answered in a truthful and transparent manner. The mere fact of knowing there's a dev/guide/GM in a guild is enough to force people to leave, whether they were fair and balanced or not.

Also, keep this thread going please. I'm enjoying this thoroughly.

It's... weird. Like i said, there have been big mistakes before that can i guess in some way be attributed to that sort of speculation? At least I can name a couple of instances where that was probably the case or just really piss-poor judgment. Oddly enough this isn't one of them.
