Like when starwars 1st came out we were amazeballzed.
Same with the matrix (for me at least) I successfully avoided adverts AND aquaintance discussion until i saw it for myself. I threatened actual death if it was discussed in my hearing range. I was horrible when 20 - 30 something.

I used to wonder why certain "Americans" got annoyed with being call yanks. Turns out Canadians Do Not like being called yanks.
Any remotely American accent to me was Yank. Till my mid 20's I suppose.
