Reportedly its not even half as capable tho, no one has tracked it on rader performing maneuvers even close to an F-35's agility, so they are still lacking in the engine and avionics departments. [You must be logged in to view images. If I were worried about the eastern menace (I’m not), I’d be more worried about the J-20

which may have something to do with why the US military will sell you literally anything except an F-22, we don't want another Iran F-14 problem. Iran is basically the entire reason the F-14 program had to be retired. F-14 was a phenomenal aircraft, and we sold them to Iran in the mid 1970s. Then 1979 happened and Iran became the bad guy again. So now F-14s everywhere are basically grounded because we won't sell parts to fix them, and we refuse to sell the F-22 because its the best fighter jet ever designed, it has beaten the F-35 in air combat many times. I believed from the start that the entire F-35 program was only ever greenlit because the US needed a fighter jet that it could sell to other nations whose aircraft were aging rapidly, but we will remain on top by keeping the F-22 to ourselves. It makes sense, every allied partner needs new fighter jets, the US refuses to sell F-22s, and our allied partners can't be completely sure of what their future conflicts will look like, and voila, the F-35 jack-of-all-trades is born.

Which is why I’d be more worried about that jet
And again, I’m not. The Chinese, if possible, are even dumber than Russians. And they still have to go through Japan. Plus 70% of South Koreans now support South Korea possessing a nuclear bomb. China pissed off Vietnam, Korea, and Japan. Good luck

basically in the chinese business world, everybody, I mean everybody is a sycophant. nobody will ever give their boss bad news, or report that a design is flawed, or that the materials used are insufficient. stack on top of that systemic corruption (sanctioned by the CCP, look into that one... the CCP believes corruption can motivate productivity) then you end up with sub-par products in all sectors. so, i'd take my chances against a J-21 more likely than not, an F/A-18 can beat it, if it even performs correctly. we always hear about china flying jets into taiwans airspace, but their flight paths are basically sunday drives. at the end of the day, it's a product made in china. You guys ever shop at Harbor Freight? you know what im talking about.

If anyone is interested in China and how retarded they actually are, check out: https://www.youtube.com/@TheChinaShow We in the West like to view China as this foreboding country who is playing 4D chess, but it's clear they have no idea what they're doing and they aren't the least bit proactive. And they're probably a worse paper tiger than Russia is. These types in the East cling to a big lie in order to survive, but their entire country exists on toothpicks held up on a house of cards.
