I know this is an old post, but its the first one that comes up when searching. I'm struggling to understand how to "instal" the ISO images I have on my steam deck.

From what I can tell, the only way is to do it on a PC first and then just SD card the files over? is this correct?

https://wiki.project1999.com/Everque...allation_Guide has the windows version of the process, Linux should have similar but different apps.

I have been there. It is not similar enough to work. The problem is when you have ISO images, you must "mount" them so the OS see's it as a disc and then "run" the disk. That way you have an "installation folder" Using the steam deck, the programs Windows uses is not the same, and similar apps are not easy to find.

There does not seem to be a method of installing Project 99 on a steam deck without first installing it on a PC and then transferring over the installation files manually. I was hoping someone could "confirm this for me.

OP’s instructions worked fine for me. I didn’t have to do anything with the ini file and was up and running in minutes.

omg does anyone have like an honest review of how good the user experience actually is running the game on steamdeck? Is it actually worth it? Do you keep a lil wireless keyboard handy to type on? How do you get quick chats in during combat? I would finally go for a steamdeck if couch lounge EQ is actually in reach lol

Late response, but I have one of these, and a set of hotkeys for default responses like "I'm on a steamdeck so limited talking", "thanks", "rez pls", etc.

It fits in the bottom of my JSAUX case under the steam deck, along with some small wired earbuds and a microusb charging cable.

The only issue with it is, due to the design, it's hard to type with it on your lap as you need to support it correctly.

As far as UX - my opinion is it's fun to run around and waste time on, tunnelquest, and do some basic soloing and whatnot. I use hotkeys for everything, so it's target nearest PC/NPC - if you're trying to cc more than 2 mobs it gets a bit funky trying to target. Yes, you can use the touchscreen or mouse emulation and I do have one of the pads set to that so I can click on things and use vendors etc. I'm sure I'd get better if I played it more.

IMHO If you want to sit back and play on your couch, you're better off with the Steam Link (or something similar) and one of those larger BT keyboard/touchpad combos. Or get the SD (and a dock) and use your TV as an external monitor so you have the portability if you want it. Chat windows can be impossible on large screens if the TV forces native resolution or something, but you can use custom UIs to get around that.

Hope that helps, sorry that they've now made the deck $1k. At least they're in stock.
