Honestly, spanking is just bad, under any circumstance. It's ineffective at best and abusive at its worst. It serves only to sate the violent tendencies of adults who are themselves too lazy to formulate responsible, non-damaging methods of correcting their child's behavior. What I would personally like to see, is something that would start just above the knee, and extend to just above the belly button. When you think about it, the business end of males and females are in the same region, And while you can forgive the lack of any significant upper torso, it's a bit harder to ignore the lack of any leg segment.
