Yeah, everything you listed minues the innate regen is non-essential.

The innate regen is the problem.

They gifted a race something special for being evil or reptillian or not offering choice.

Iskar only have one choice at birth: evil.

That would be like being born in a muslim or christian society where you can't decide for yourself.

They rewarded that with innate regen maing a class which is all about enlightenment and associated with humans being played better by evil lizards who don't believe in the right to choose good over evil.

Demons are a theological explanation. I've learned to see the religious interpretations as things those who lacked the science at the time used.

This is to say you should look on what they see causing the downfall of nations, and social order as historical human observation.

When I say these peoples' minds are infested with demons, I don't mean little red devils or some guy with a pitch fork that lives in the center of the earth. Or that some winged person fell out of the sky into said center of the earth or whatever. I'm saying theres something observable, clearly wrong and "evil". Men can fall in this way, into evil so to speak if they are weak and especially if they live unfulfilled and indecent lives.

I think the man in the clouds mumbo jumbo and whale belly stories were kind of the memes of the time to share the sentiment.

We got more than a few of them here and they do all the classic things the ancients warned us about. Especially the idolatry crap of putting objects/possessions before their fellow man, and the hedonism/sexual indecency stuff.
