Global channels means there's always people to talk to, and you make a lot of friends. Edit: Cloak of Shadows is hella' rare on this game mode for context, and Kerra Isle is the only place I've ever seen one drop.

Also TLP = real gamers. I never met anyone on P99 who plays games. On TLP almost everyone in my groups plays Apex, OW, WoW, LoL. Very competitive and high skill groups. Try going AFK on TLP and see how that works out for you. Have seen many DPS get the boot for low damage, and casters get booted over forgetting to buy critical spells — there are a lot of people who want your spot in a group, so do your job well. There is competition— people steal our rares and we still their rares. Fun. The sky is the limit. Love being OOM and almost wiping 24/7 for insane reward.

On TLP? They drop at Kobold Royals, BNB, and multiple camps in Lower Guk that I've personally seen. I think newbs don't realize this and are willing to drop cash on stuff like that, but I doubt very seriously that anyone over level 40 would even buy a Mith 2 handed sword for 100p. There are also better weapons that are trade-able now. By the time you are mid 40s most of your group members will be wearing planar gear and using planar weapons. Edit: If you plan on spending money on this game, buy stuff like crates. I got some game-breaking items out of mine, like being able to teleport to Misty Thicket or Fool's Gold Tavern any time I want as a Cleric is insane.

You know this really does feel like classic EverQuest. 20 years ago when you got a group in Lower Guk you didn't just camp AM or just Ritualist. You camped the entire wing you were in.
One of the problems with P99 is that you're only allowed to camp one mob, which means that there's no reason to group up there. On P99 I can remember people declaring that they were camping cavalier, exe or ritualist while waiting for a better camp to open up -- as a veteran I found this extremely odd because I remember these wings being camps designed to sustain an entire group. On TLP this would never happen. You can likely go to another pick if you want to solo something (no one is going to fight you over a single camp, especially when drops are random), but you can also go to a pick and get into a group that is able to camp entire wings at once without any drama. Last night I got into an "exe" group, where we also killed Ritualist, Ass/Supp, and even pulled Sentinel, hand room and AM regularly. It felt like the Guk I actually remembered all those years ago. Guk is an exciting zone when you hear "Rit is up, Cav is up" etc. On P99 it's like okay let's wait 28 minutes... for another placeholder... on TLP when you're pulling multiple rare PHs .... the way that the zone was intended... there's almost a guaranteed chance you'll get at least 1-2 rares every respawn cycle. Game actually feels way more challenging when you’re pushing yourself to get as many rare mobs as you can before respawn. Clearing down the hallway to Lord, completely OOM, having Paladin tank also off heal, being on the verge of a wipe the entire time as you race back from Lord to Frenzied... you start to really value good players more, and you get your own opportunity to show people what you can do... And with Pick zones, you can easily get your own zone to solo in if that's what you really want. I was solo'ing Sentinel and Supplier/Assasssin last night without any drama, when another group asked me if I wanted to join them at Ham/Lord and camp EVERY THING, and we did. Also a level 50 Cleric on TLP is super powerful in Lower Guk because of the way banestrike and mana regen works. Your Undead nukes take significantly less mana to cast than they do on P99, and with Banestrike they do like 600 damage (Sound of Force with banestrike is like 400 damage), so with Clarity and Bard Song I was able to stay above 70% mana while nuking every single mob into oblivion, but at the same time I was the main healer. I felt immensely powerful, sort of like how Druids have their moment in Sol B when they charm a Sonic Bat. But also one genius thing about Thornblade and Mischief... if you want to solo Guk for rares, you absolutely can do this, and it has it's perks, but since you don't actually know which mob is going to drop FBSS, or Guise, you are way better off joining up with another group where you're able to kill many named mobs instead of just one mob by yourself like you normally would on P99. Edit: Vendors selling invisibility potions is a really nice thing for a Cleric. Especially on a server where you want to by pass a lot of trash mobs for a specific rare mob [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
