I don't pretend to know the inner workings of a high end raid guild, but it sounds like people get burnout and quit, then new hungry mouths take their place and the cycle repeats.

A day off doesn't need to be the solution but a suggestion, seems like Rustle has a window cutoff for tracking / FTEs that help folks relax, so maybe something similar. Maybe your guild already has some kind of 'step away from the keyboard' policy in place at times, would like to hear it if so.

I'm just trying to talk and discuss on the forum, no need to get angry / cynical.
In BDA they didn't track past certain times because they couldn't field a raid force and spending time tracking and losing mobs was too demoralizing, it wasn't some moral high ground on making sure people got to sleep or kissed their wife goodnight.

In Awakened, we can kill many of the mobs in game 24/7 (def not all but many). Awakened also has a diverse playerbase from around the world representing timezones in Asia, Europe, North/South America, and Australia -- probably other timezones too. So when one crew goes to sleep/work, there are usually other players around to help.

You mentioned you would like to hear 'step away' policies. In Awakened there are no required raids, there is no DKP decay if you want to take a break from raiding, there is no tracking requirement, and we don't track mobs unless someone volunteers to do so. Also, we have a two tier voluntary batphone system - so you can customize when you want to be informed about targets, what type of targets you want to be batphoned for, and what hours/times you want to be batphoned. I always turn off my batphone when I'm asleep/at work.

Except were the ones that waited in lines. We both have the same opportunity, we just were more hungry and got there first. You just want to come driving up and go to the front...
Yes, eventually, they will want to be at the front of the line, that's how lines work. You don't see people eating chicken tenders in line at the buffet and waiting around for the servers to bring out more.

I wouldn't particularly describe P99 and old school EQ's raid / loot system as a "buffet of pixels."

Maybe not an "all-you-can-eat" buffet, but the analogy works.

Why do you have Rustle, the good guys, lumped in with the bad guys, A/A and CSG?

Analogies are fine tools to explain concepts but are useless as arguments. Everyone spends their time focusing on building up or tearing down the analogy instead of focusing on the issue at hand. Let me demonstrate.

P99 is certainly not anything like a buffet because there is no line and there's never any expectation of being served pixels or food or anything else. Maybe you'd like there to be a line but there isn't one and there never will be. It's more like a MMORPG with non-instanced content.

Pretty simple
I get that, but isn't burn out and high-end addiction a thing? Like, people answering every single batphone in the middle of the night because they want to keep building their DKP pool, if they don't get to this raid others will and then they will fall further behind. I know not everyone is like that, but I've seen a lot of 'keeping up with the jones' mentality, even in AG members.

I don't see how a mandatory break from tracking / racing / raiding is such a bad thing, I think it can make guilds stronger in the long run personally. Can be only a few times a month even when only some select crummy mobs are in window.

You make a fair observation. It's my fault that I was not clearer that I was arguing that there should be lines for this shit and that I don't believe I can log on and get a plate full of black pepper chicken. I'll attempt to clear a wider inferential pathway for you next time so you can keep up.

My analogies here are meant to illustrate the absurdity that comes by not having a line.

It's impossible to argue without analogies, since the very words you use to argue with are themselves analogous to the ideas you are arguing. If they weren't, everyone here would agree on what it means to "compete" on this server.

Detoxx doesn't care. He'll use anybody and when they burn themselves out, that's okay by him, because he'll find another anybody to use.

Pretty simple
