Why they doin' that? Is OT a safe space now? Someone complained, eh? Prolly people that never even post here, special snowflakes,, I've seen people like that complain around other parts here regarding OT. It shouldn't be taken seriously. We're invading their safe space, the entire forum, then they will be complaining about something else.

I do admit though, our political wall thread has a great original post [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Anyway I've seen this done in other forums, it usually falls off the radar pretty quickly and things return to normality as special snowflakes (complainers, not speaking of staff)) feel appeased before they melt away.

complained about what? "there are too many threads, merge them"? it makes zero sense, clogs discussion up, really stupid. If there are too many threads to support interest in a topic, the excess don't get bumped and they fall off the board! self-regulating!

99% probability it's a madmin acting of their own accord (80% probability said admin brand new, otherwise there was recently a shuffling of duties and someone is looking to impress someone else)

Probably new mod. We had a new one log on earlier last week, lirin I think, had 3 posts. Probably just doing what their job outline says. They merged other threads too. I get grouping same topics, but makes things confusing when they aren't the same but are related because different conversations develop that go in different directions.

it makes sense for things that get drastically out of control, like merging the election shit isn't that insane. But merging the only 2 threads about the great wall? That's either horrifying levels of incompetence or a nerd taking his anger out on the board denizens.

Or just sticky the GoT thread so no need to merger threads to keep that thread on first page during off-season [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
