Lol RMT is like any addiction: the addict is gunna tell you about their best story which is 1% of the RMT game.
You can earn more working at McDonalds, it's only beneficial to people who DONT work and wanna trade 60 hrs of their time for a few hundred dollars per week. ...and in saying that the biggest RMTers on the server are generally right infront of your face. What's someones compulsion to keep farming the same content for hours on end???? their end goal is to make 50c per hour for their time. The reality is people like Jibken spent 1000's of hours in the game and used 10's of people to get fungis/gear and probably rmt'd it all off for under 5 grand.

Rage post x4:
And you can general tell who the big buyers are (not the dads who buy a fungi to sneak some eq time in when their wives are asleep type)...they never farm but have 1-2-3 decked toons in tradeable gear and have no issue splashing the platnium for all the trinkets and generally are very bad at the game because they've never ground out time learning it at farm camps or farm groups.

the real money wasn't in the big ticket items, it where all the nihilum players who had 11 EoE's 11 Tcrowns, 11 COFs, 11 fungis, 11 BoH's, 11 NoS's, 11 gobby earing. and those are the items that would sell fast at prices that lowered enough sold instantly. and you'd RMT the plat u got from it.
tons of people where doing it back then.

Sounds like a couple druggies exaggerating about their wild wild west days on a 17 year old video game.

I am not really getting this flip-flip-flip server arbitrage business model
If you manage to get a small value increase with a direct item trade, it will be 3x that if you do it cross Server...but how big can your gains be with direct trade? It is a lot of hassle for sure But good for you, I never minded rmt, as Long as it doesnt corrupt guild loot council decisions the, buy old nihi accounts and strip em sounds a lot like what vapo was accused of, that could actually work well

When he says he made $10k per month he made $1k selling 300 hours of play time that he unloaded over 3 days. Technically he was on pace for 10k per month but it was short lived. His 10 fungi tunics were gone, he paid rent, bought some drugs and 2 weeks later he was back on Red99 grinding over again.
