I forgot to add that back then, I had a shitty E-machines computer (as did probably most of the teenagers that played) and could barely handle the new character models and new zones. That was part of the reason i stopped playing lol

Several times

First was after an 8 hour raid in Kael and I was just disgusted with myself for playing that long

Second was after another one of those in Vex Thal - just felt like I was wasting my life

Third was when WoW came out

I realised when...

Strived to be the first WW fully PoTB geared ranger. Aquired BP 2 days before some other ranger on a scrub number 2 server (/smug). Found brief Allakhazam fame as a result.

Week later realised the achievement is equal to spending most of my life in a room full of retards trying my hardest to be the loudest, dumbest, most remedial fuckwit of them all.

That was month or two before GoD release, never logged in live again ever since and aint ever looked back.

I like the way this sounds, 'I was on cocain, I had to stop. Then I found heroin!'

Looks like majority of players quit post-PoP. The P99 crew should just start a Classic-PoP server. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Could not have said it better. Classic is a lot more to a lot of people than just what Nilbog Thinks is "classic". Not knocking him, it is his server. [You must be logged in to view images. I can't even claim I've quit. I have stopped playing for years multiple times, only to go back. I'm loving Project 1999 but I wouldn't be surprised if I go back to live again too.

We'll it sounds like I got out while it was still good. I was still having a blast in Dec 2002 I believe it was PoP. Then I decided to go back to college and moved to TX. Turns out the ID department wouldn't open all the ports necessary for me to play (I believe at the time it used a large range of ports and would randomly pick on in that range). I tried getting it to work via proxy but I didn't have the computer know-how. So let my friend just play my mage till he got bored. Ended up getting marred and have 3 kids now. Who knows where I'd be if I didn't decided to make a life change and move which forced me to quit. Now I just play casual in the evenings when my kids are asleep.

Struggled to get through the Gates of Discord, and then Omens of War finally did it for me. I just could not connect the lore to the EQ I once knew. When EQ2 launched 2 months after OoW I was gone.
