Because it shows that no amount of time will cause one type of creature will turn into another. It's NEVER been seen to occur. It CANNOT be reproduced via any experiment. It certainly shows those specific creatures have not significantly changed over an extended period of time. Living fossil, btw, simply means a creature's closest relatives are extinct.
