The community is pretty sweet here. Try to invest your time beta testing Velious, discussing game strategy/tactics/nostalgia, and leveling fun characters while making friends in groups. Almost all those people in that thread started playing in 1999. The E Marr message boards have been around since 1999 and I dont recall it being more civilized then what we see today. I remember seeing a lot of racist/homophobic character names in 1999. Where are you getting this romanticized view of how things were in the last millennium?

This isn't an organization. It's not a club. It's just a bunch of individuals choosing to access certain servers to exchange certain information or share certain experiences.

It's not a bunch of people seeking to make society more moral, as any individual has defined morality. So there's no "we" anywhere in this.

Certain people don't care about offending certain groups. That's all. Controlling their behavior is neither desirable nor possible; they obviously aren't given megaphones and are typically sidelined to R&F when they get out of line, but there's no "we" anywhere in there, no more than "we the human race" are responsible for the offensive things totalitarian dictators do.

Some will take what a few participants (a better term than members) of this community as a reflection of the whole. You can't fix stupid. That's always going to happen. Most people won't.
