My main has always been male, normally my chief alt too. Lesser alts and trade bots or time wasting toons have been female here and there.
I remember the first female toon. It was in EQ Live, sometime in 1999. My wife created a female barb shaman on my account to try the game. She got hooked and her own account. I was farting around in a newbie zone on the female toon left on my account. Some male gnome mage of a mid 40s level was killing guards. He was smitten with me and gave me plat and items. It creeped me out on a very core level. I still took the goodies as I could use them, but from then on I made sure folks knew I was crossdressing if I played a female toon. Heh. One of my longest online friends from EQ 1999 forward... crossdressed and I didn't know it for years. When I found out I just felt like it made sense. They never attempted to hide their true gender. I and many more just assumed. I remember thinking from time to time, "man she's a lot like a guy, must be a tomboy". Hehe! It made perfect sense when it dawned on me. I felt a little silly, but not as silly as the fools that try pickups in an MMO!

Recall a buddy played a female wood elf called Sweetcheeks or wth it was, begging from lvl30+ people in Rivervale. Got a ton of stuff, chilled in EC selling and buying and had yaks and crap in classic in no time. Future used car salesman.

I never look at gaming (or working out at the gym) as pairing opportunities. So, in gaming, it doesn't matter what gender they really are. Although I do think it is a bit weird for a guy to play female characters; I know that tons of guys do, lol. /edit removed the 'gay' comment after further consideration. Also, yes I have drooled over wood elf females as much as the next guy. :P

well I don't know about EQ but if you play a game like TERA you're pretty much obligated to roll a female character.

I didn't on live, but I do on here.
I find male enchanters to seem very date-rapey, and felt uncomfortable playing a male enchanter.

When it comes to ogres and trolls... the males are sexier by a hairs width... thats about it =P and thats not sayin much, just that the females for those are so ugly as to turn a straight guy into an ogre man lover. Tera babes on the media page were hawt =P I guess I'm cursed cause I grew up in the low bitrate era =P so pixelation of my babes is no big drawback lol.

Funny ass thread.
I think a lot of guys created female characters back in the day, completely unwitting of the response it would receive from other dudes. I know I created a cute little gnome from the beginning of EQ that I thought was so cute as a kid. Then all of a sudden everyone was all RP flirting hard on my gnome, and I was like wtf. Was a totally different time. Even on non-rp servers, everyone sort of roleplayed to some degree. Except for the horny naive young guys hitting on your female toons, it made for a more interesting experience.
