If other computers going through your router can connect to the server just fine, then it isn't your router.
Unless the router has been setup to have the laptop DMZ or be forwarding the port for the specific network IP that the laptop is using.

Honestly sounds like the router or a firewall issue on the PC. If there's someway you can bypass your router and test that I would. Then you could completely rule out the router as a possible problem. Any other way you could get a connection to the internet to test?

The modem and router are one in the same so theres no way I can bypass it, but I have not set up any DMZ on the router I was able to connect through it on this PC 2 weeks ago and I haven't changed any settings on it since I've had this computer.

Here's a successful login sequence:

2013-01-20 18:36:03 Networking: using port [64642].
2013-01-20 18:36:03 Networking: Connection Established [1]
2013-01-20 18:36:03 WorldAuthenticate: Initiating Login.
2013-01-20 18:36:12 WorldAuthenticate. I got a message of type 0x6957 (26967).
2013-01-20 18:36:12 WorldAuthenticate. I got a message of type 0xfa6 (4006).
2013-01-20 18:36:12 WorldRPServer message: server name project1999

Here's yours again:

2013-01-14 18:04:00 Networking: using port [64404].
2013-01-14 18:04:00 Networking: Connection Established [1]
2013-01-14 18:04:00 WorldAuthenticate: Initiating Login.
2013-01-14 18:04:02 Networking: Connection Closed [0] with 0 pending bytes.
2013-01-14 18:04:02 *** ERROR: WorldAuthenticate. My message arrival was NULL, the net has been shutdown.
2013-01-14 18:04:02 *** WorldAuthenticate. Checkpoint 3.

You are getting a pretty fast turn around after "WorldAuthenticate: Initiating Login." while my successful one takes almost 10 seconds before the reply.

Just trying to debug this and putting this here for my future reference.
