Many of us fondly remember the great times we had on MortalQuest and Discord and the epic battles we had on other boxes. What stories will you be telling your grandchildren about the red99 pvp sever? What will people remember most?

The grind.

Allow creation of hardcore characters on red.

Disadvantages of a hardcore character
Upon dying, the character is reset to level 1. All items would be lootable on the character's corpse.

Advantages
Hardcore characters level 3x faster.

Why would be a good idea?
It would provide a nice boost for the new characters dipping their toes in the server while still rewarding longer term players with the satisfaction of resetting one of the hardcore characters back to zero. It introduces the option of playing with or without item loot. It may make pve more interesting and challenging, and help to develop a lower level pvp community.
On first seeing this, I thought "Hey, that might be fun."

But the reality is players die too much in EQ for it to work. Dying in EQ is part of the game. It comes built-in. If you don't die then you don't challenge yourself. No challenge = No fun.

That and almost all hardcores would be twinks out for fun. A rich player's sojourn. But I think even this is a stretch, since dying is so common. Maybe if it had a scoring system on a webserver.

I'd rather see PvP statistics like live had MUCH more. It's sourly missing.

I have lots of ideas but they'd all change P1999 so it's not P1999 anymore.

I played on SZ and on Zek when it merged. I loved the stats but did mostly PvE. If you added up all my kills it would probably be maybe 20-30. Many more deaths. I always ran because my mommy told me to.

The stats are cool. Not because I am. It was fun to log on live and look at em. I remember looking for people in my guild to see what they were doing in the stats. That was what I really liked it for.

It made people care too much

enough to cheat , lie , fuck everyone over and fight as cheap as possible to get on top

it spawned an era of hacks and cheap bullshit that just resulted in mass gankings of players fighting mobs or otherwise not ready to be gibbed by a raid geared group of people

the day they took the leaderboard out a ton of assholes quit and zek got alot better. Sony never stepped in to do shit about hackers, i guess the best course of action for them was to take away the reason to hack

it worked

and after the dark age ( DoN ) TSS was the light on the horizon
