The side effects are far worse than the condition itself? No. It is the condition they suffer from that causes them to come into our care rather than being able to mingle with free society. If they take their meds as prescribed and yes, court ordered to take then they don't have to be in a lock down facility. Self medicating with pot or other street drugs doesn't make them any better.
They are a danger to themselves and others when they are non compliant.
