A Warning to the EQP99 Community: Database Hacking

It is a logical fallacy that because your database was hacked and because a TR member forwarded on an exploit you talked about (even in a "don't do this" way) on your member forums that a TR member hacked your database. We have had former/disgruntled TMO / DA in our app pool consistently for a solid 8 months, including apps received as recently as this morning. People offer us, unsolicited, a ridiculous amount of information about what goes on in your guild.

I am sorry you got hacked. I don't know jack and/or crap about database security, but it seems pretty out of line to point the finger without any actual evidence when this server is a cesspool of people who know entirely too much about the internet. We're not the only people your guild's leadership has pissed off.

Not sure why so many don't realize that this thread was created as a warning to the community. A warning of what you ask? There are players on this server who use illicit means to download private information from websites that are run/owned by other players on the server. You think it's just TMO/TR? Think again.

The only real issue here is the fact that peoples' personal information and intellectual property was compromised. The post Alkorin made on our forums that we're supposedly 'covering' for was written with an introductory disclaimer that he had already made a petition. We only mentioned this said post because it was taken from our private boards around the same time our database was downloaded; it was then posted out of context as a petition to try and get Alkorin in trouble somehow. We only care about that incident because it provides evidence as to who downloaded our database.


It could be a completely unrelated issue, but chances are it's not. People may laugh and joke about it, trying to get this thread into RnF for some reason, but invasion of privacy online is a huge problem today. It's stupid to think of this as just a TMO/TR issue.

I think people were clearly upset at the completely unnecessary anti-TR spin on the post for something that was meant as a general warning to the community. You guys are like Fox News - they can't bring up anything without pointing a finger at Obama.

That being said, yes these are real issues and thanks for bringing them up.

There is more information that Alkorin and Aadil have that they are not saying.

The reason for the Anti TR spin is that the account Kinsawt was using to spy on our guild chat shares the same IP with person who stole our database.
