Twitter is NOT a fucking digital town square. Russian-paid internet shills can't broadcast lies and propaganda into every town square in the country.
Like just imagine if it's 1981 or some shit and you're sitting there watching cartoons and a commercial comes on paid for by the Soviet Union talking about how Reagan is a lizard man.
Twitter is also absent the human social dynamics that are at play in an actual town square environment. We tend to lend greater attention to people with certain reputations or presences. If we hear something retarded we're like "Oh that's old Johnny Smithers. You know he ate one of his own turds in 3rd grade? I was there." But on the internet Johnny Smithers can be a messiah.

Yes, but the comparison people keep making is that it has become the *defacto* town square, which is absolutely has. Twitter's suppression (and every other silicon valley corp) of the hunter biden laptop story DIRECTLY influenced the outcome of the election, because many dems in swing states stated that they would not have voted for biden if they had known about it. And that story turned out to be totally legit. Elon is just stepping in to be the actual adult in the room, and stop treating the american public like children.
