I agree that the term “populism” doesn’t reflect the historical definition, but I’d also ask you to dig deeper into those polls. People say a lot of things when a certain answer is expected socially, then you go to family dinner and they tell you the Chinese should be made into batteries like in the matrix for what they’re doing to the Uighurs (my father said this, I died laughing)
