I dunno where you got that definition of irony, maybe the same place as Alanis..

Irony is a use of words in which the implied meaning is at odds with the literal meaning. It's a very specific defined term. There are situational ironies as well, but those apply even less. Coincidencidental and/or unexpected events are not ironic, dontchya think?
