Perhaps reality is an experience for God himself.
Jesus was said to be god in human form. A merging of the supreme divine energy with the mortality of being a human. Before this it was said that God did not understand humans. He gave them rules and he was very vengeful when people broke them. Jesus asked his father to not punish the sinners, for they not know what they do. Jesus pleaded with his father not to punish people for making a mistake out of ignorance. That’s where the change between Old Testament and New Testament god took place. The New Testament god is much more forgiving. Jesus’s death was that sacrifice and through that it’s said god became aware of the struggles of being a mortal human. So it’s definitely a perspective that God is still learning and evolving and understanding this reality himself.

The fact that we can’t just evolve into anything and I’m talking about over thousands of years, the speed which observable “evolution” actually happens, if you believe that, points to the idea of genetic engineering of some sort.

Generally, when animals evolve, they won't lose all their genes used by their previous form. The function of those genes will either be altered, or they simply won't be expressed (the genes are turned off). In other words, a human should still contain much of the programming to produce a fish, where as a fish would have very little programming to make a human; only things from archaic systems that a human inherited from his fish ancestors.
