/Role and Anon

Is there a quest item Rangers need somewhere in Tox Forest? Why would you be at that Druid Ring at all?

I never go anon or /role unless I'm doing something my friends or I don't want other people to know about.

On that, I get asked for ports and buffs often enough and have no problem saying no or yes depending on my mood or availability.

I will absolutely NOT do ANY favor whatsoever for a person who is Anonymous asking me while not Anon myself.

If you have the privilege of asking ME for a favor, I should be able to ask YOU. Otherwise, you can go fuck yourself.

It can be about more than that though. It's the whole idea that someone is more than willing to search out random people who let their level and class and location be known and request help, while they themselves remain hidden to prevent other people from doing the same. It can be looked at as a double standard of sorts. "I have no problem with asking random people for help, but I make sure no one can do the same of me."

If that is how that person perceives it, then the other person will just have to live with that consequence. Although, they will probably be thinking that about half the server, and probably a hypocrite themselves if they ever used /role or /anon. It's just as selfish to tell someone they shouldn't use /anon or /role because that's the way they want it. You are not entitled to anything. It's also very naive to think that people don't take this game seriously.

You can say my attitude is what's wrong with this server blah blah blah, but I'm just being realistic. And anyone who knows me in game knows I would and do bend over backwards for most.

This has probably been said. But when you do a /who all Dalnir and nothing comes up. You head over cause the NoS camp is up. You show up and there are three people in line all anon. Please just take it off for that camp! You may get bugged by a few people, but you have nothing better to do other than respond to them anyways.

If you have no idea who I am, why shouldn't you help me? Obviously, you can say no to anyone you want, but how does knowing my race and class affect your decision?

People mostly gave the response I would give already, but to add to it, when someone is anon and asking me for something, I assume the worst, and there's a much greater chance that I'll ignore the request or respond with derision.

Leveled a druid to 50 pre Kunark here, and currently play a 55 shaman. Never ever use /anon or /role. I feel perfectly comfortable being less eager to help people who ask me for help if they're /anon or /role without feeling hypocritical about it.

Just so we're clear, I've never not helped someone specifcally for being /anon or /role, but there have been times where I don't feel like going out of my way but am considering it, and then do /who all on the person asking for help and realize I can't see their level or class or location and just decide "Fuck it, I'm gonna pretend I'm AFK"

I'm never /role unless I'm on a raid and my guild asks me to, then I just chuckle to myself and /role until we're done. I don't care if other people /role or not, though.
